In uncertain markets you may want to consider smoothing out the peaks and troughs by drip-feeding your money into your ISA. This can be achieved either by making regular monthly payments or by phasing, a service offered by some ISA providers.

Take Interactive Investor for example, you can phase a lump sum ISA subscription (payment) into your Interactive Investor ISA. The process is simple: You invest a lump sum and Interactive Investor will divide this sum by the number of months you wish to invest over (your phasing period). We will then invest these equal monthly amounts over your chosen phasing period (you have a choice of phasing your investment over 3, 6, 9 or 12 months). You will be paid interest on the balance of cash held.
