Not necessarily. Here are some tips for searching for equities on the portfolio system:
  1. Initially only type the first couple of letters of two of the words within the stock or trust title into the "Add investment" box. This will bring back the widest list of possible matches. For instance by typing "brit tel" - the search engine will find "British Telecommunications PLC (BT-A.L)"
  2.
  3. Often funds and trusts are listed with truncated titles or with words missing from the title. For this reason it may be a good idea to only type the first couple of letters of one of the words into the "Add Investment" box
  4.
  5. The majority of funds won't be listed with the word "fund" or "trust" after the title. Typing this into the search engine can often result in no match being found.
  6.
  7. You should also tick all the possible investment types (such as London Equities, Unit Trusts) to widen the search. Sometimes funds will be found within different sections than originally expected.
  8.
  9. Zero Dividend Preference Shares are often listed with the suffix "zero div pref" within London Equities. However their titles will often be shortened, making them difficult to find. The best way to search for these is by typing the first letter of the investment followed by the word "zero". For example in order to find:
Second Scottish National Trust Zero Dividend Preference shares - simply type: S zero

Several matches will be returned one of which is SEC.SCOT.TST.PF ZERO DIV PRF SHS 10P (SSNZ.L)
