The Snap Quote bar and the Ticker bar at the bottom of the application can be toggled on or off. For example, if you prefer not to have the ticker displaying, simply uncheck the Ticker checkbox under the View Menu:



Below is Quotestream II with both the Snap Quote bar and the Ticker bar turned on:
